The Kiask Product, for curators

Visitors to museums usually absorb information about exhibits through “interpretive writing” on signs in the museum space, brochures for collections, and labels on individual exhibits. A Kiask terminal can supplement or replace some of these signs, brochures, and labels with a dynamic story told through an interactive touchscreen.

A Kiask terminal offers two improvements to the kind of stories you can tell.

Interactive experience for the Visitor: The visitor can control the pace of the storytelling by navigating through a story on the Kiask terminal. An interactive story engages the visitor’s attention more than a passive brochure or label might.

Easy updates for the Curator: Create, replace, or update the stories on a Kiask terminal in a few minutes via the cloud-based portal. You don’t need to prepare all your stories at once; you can produce them at your own pace and improve them as you get feedback from visitors. The stories are also easy to update when you put up temporary exhibits or make changes to your collections.

You can also use a Kiask terminal to broadcast announcements of upcoming events and talks.

Kiask cloud-based applications:

Besides the terminals for visitors, Kiask includes two cloud-based applications:

Kiask Manager, a web-based application for you, the curator, to manage your collections of stories. You can also use the tool to coordinate story creation activities with authors. You can give them permission to create, edit, and upload stories to your collections. You can choose to get notified of author activities, which you can then review and publish to your terminals.

Kiask Studio, a web-based application for authors to create stories. Story authors can use Kiask Studio to compose stories and upload them to your collections.
